Vacancy for Junior Barristers’ Clerk at Cathedral Chambers
Located in Newport, South Wales
The Person
Suitable candidates will ideally be educated to A Level standard or above. They must demonstrate initiative and a willingness to work in a pressured environment. They must be well presented, with good communication skills and a structured and organised approach to the working environment. Previous experience of clerical or administrative roles or work involving customers or clients is desirable but not essential.
The Role
You will need to demonstrate an ability to perform across the following areas:

- Team working in a small tightly knit group
- Dealing with confidential family law matters
- Professional and courteous telephone manner
- Taking diary bookings on an electronic system
- Billing clients for Barristers Fees
- Chasing clients about unpaid Fees
- Monitoring of stationery supplies
- Preparing and clerking conference rooms including rearranging furniture
- IT systems support including monitoring paper, toner and ink supplies
- Any other office-related tasks that may be required by the senior clerk
- Preparing external post and parcels and distributing incoming post and courier deliveries
- Storing boxes of documents, files and deliveries around chambers
- Printing and copying bundles if required
- Assisting Counsel with compiling electronic bundles
- Chasing electronic bundles / instructions from professional clients
- Stocking the kitchen and providing beverages to visiting clients and counsel
