Christine Headshot

Christine Abbott

Year of Call: 1999

Areas of Practice: Public Children Law

Practice overview:
Christine deals with all aspects of public law children work which includes assessments, attachment disorders, baby-shaking, conflicting expert evidence, complex radiological and/or neurological evidence, depression, domestic violence, fictitious and/or induced illness, learning-disabled parents, ‘perpetrator’ cases, personality disorders and sexual abuse.

She has extensive experience in representing local authorities, parents and grandparents and other family members, children’s guardians and separately representing children in all courts. Christine often represents those suffering from some form of mental health impairment or learning difficulties to include acting for the Official Solicitor. She has also successfully argued against the instruction of the official solicitor.

Christine is known for her representation of parents in complex public care proceedings as well as her skill in acting for vulnerable parties. She is a passionate advocate and fights for her clients in a way which is perfectly realistic even when the evidence would suggest that there is little hope of success. Her skills lay in very thorough preparation and a forensic analytical approach to complex facts, evidence and the relevant law which in turn enables her to carefully weigh the need for experts in cases and to identify need of particular expertise required for both fact-finding and the welfare planning for children’s long-term future.
