Practice overview:
Andrea joined Cathedral Chambers as a tenant in October 2019 after successful completion of pupillage under the supervision of Sheila Radcliffe.
Andrea has developed a busy family practice and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice, including public law, private law and matrimonial finance and TOLATA.
In public law proceedings, Andrea acts for Local Authorities, parents, guardians and other intervening parties from the initial stages of proceedings, through to contested final hearings. Andrea has experience in dealing with the full range of public law proceedings including non-accidental injuries to children. In private law proceedings, Andrea is regularly instructed in Section. 8 applications, specific issue applications, prohibitive steps applications and applications for injunctions under the Family Law Act 1996. Andrea regularly undertakes hearings from the First Hearing Dispute Resolution Appointments, through to Findings of Fact and contested Final Hearings. Andrea’s experience extends to dealing with cases involving physical, emotional, and serious sexual assault.
In matrimonial finance matters, Andrea deals with all aspects and stages of family finance, including Maintenance Pending Suit, Financial Dispute Resolution Hearings, Final Hearings and Costs.
Andrea has a professional, firm approach while always maintaining empathy and a connection with her clients.
Andrea has joined the Bar at a later stage in her working life, bringing the benefits of experience and a sound understanding of challenges that present to the modern family. Andrea has particular long-term experience in communicating with and advocating for individuals on the Autistic Spectrum. This offers parties with such characteristics an extra layer of understanding and in turn leads to a better quality of representation.
