Practice overview:
Laura Beattie joined Cathedral Chambers as a tenant in April 2017 following successful completion of her pupillage under the supervision of Sheila Radcliffe and Felicie Lucas.

Laura is a popular family practitioner and has very quickly carved out a successful and busy practice. She regularly accepts instructions in areas of Public Law and Private Law.

Laura often represents local authorities, parents, children (either by their guardian’s or acting independently), extended family members and other intervenors in care and adoption proceedings, in all levels of the Family Court. Laura conducts cases involving child neglect, emotional harm, physical harm and sexual abuse. Laura has a sensitive yet robust approach making her a real favourite with both professional and lay clients.

Laura has strong client care skills. Her manner with clients is personable and honest and she regularly receives positive feedback from both professional and lay clients. In the Private Law sphere, Laura is frequently instructed to represent parents involved in section 8 disputes involving allegations of physical and sexual abuse, risk of abduction, emotional harm, implacable hostility and parental alienation. Laura also conducts fact-finding hearings involving allegations of abuse perpetrated against both adults and children. Laura also acts for parties involved in applications for occupation and non-molestation orders.
