Practice overview:

Stephen served 11 years with the British Army in the Special Investigations Branch of the Royal Military Police, conducting enquiries into serious crime in the U.K and overseas. During his time in the military, he was deployed to Germany, Canada, Poland, Kuwait and was awarded operations service medals for his deployments to Iraq in 2003, 2006 and Afghanistan in 2009.


Whilst deployed, Stephen undertook a number of enquiries into the operational deaths of service personnel on behalf of the UK Coroner. Upon leaving the Military Stephen worked for the Civil Police as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on a number of high-level enquiries. Stephen also spent 10 years at the Care Quality Commission at both a senior operations and strategic level. His role was to oversee the regulation of health and social care services ensuring that they were safe and provided high quality care. As an Inspection Manager Stephen led a team to inspection and rate over 500 services and where standards fell below the required standard oversaw both civil and criminal enforcement action against providers in order to drive improvement. Stephen also led enquiries into avoidable harm sustained in care services and oversaw prosecutions of providers.


Stephen undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and the Bar Training Course (BTC) at the University of West England and attained the grade of ‘Very Competent’ and is currently completing his LL.M. Stephen accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ practice.


In his spare time, Stephen enjoys a range of sports including football (where he represented the Adjutants Generals Corp), boxing and Mixed Martial Arts. Stephen enjoys spending time with his family and socialising with friends.
